Shopping in Exeter

Whether you are looking for large 'High Street' names or small intimate shops with specialist items, Exeter is a great place to shop! The Princesshay development opened in September 2007 and brought over 50 new shops and restuarants to the city centre. This quality mixed-use development has won prizes for its innovative design. A compact city, Exeter has some superb boutique shops within a short walk of the High Street.

Guild Hall, ExeterWe have everything here for you, from independent stores, services and cafes to some of the big high street names such as Primark, Argos and WH Smith – a full list is available on this website

Princesshay, ExeterWith over 50 shops, Princesshay also has a superb variety of cafes and restaurants. Pedestrianised streets and spaces are also used for a year round programme of events and activities. As well as the large Debenhams and Next stores, shops in Princesshay include fashion stores Morgan, Jane Norman, Crew Clothing, Jack Wills, Zara, New Look and Fat Face, organic skin and body care experts Neal's Yard Remedies, lingerie retailer La Senza, fragrance and beauty products supplier Crabtree and Evelyn, shoe shops Hobbs, Schuh and Faith, computer store Apple, and providers of delicious treats Chandos Delicatessen and Hotel Chocolat. Carol Anne Jewellers, AH Moda and Caroline Charles (all in Roman Walk) are worth a look for those special items.

Quayside, Exeter Not just a place to feed the swans and ducks, there is an interesting selection of shops here too! The historic quayside is a 10 - 15 minute walk from the city centre and is a popular place to come to eat, enjoy a drink, take a walk, engage in water sports or just to enjoy the views. Shopping opportunities add the icing on the cake with a good selection of antiques shops and craft shops here where you can browse to your heart's content. Quayside Crafts and Gifts is a unique shop, located in a 400 year old bonded warehouse, selling a huge range of Westcountry crafts, food and gifts. Just along from the Quayhouse Visitor Centre is an interesting parade of shops and restaurants. At Saddles and Paddles you can buy a new bicycle or hire one for the day. New to the Quayside this June is the charming little shop, The Silver Lining, for hand made jewellery items. On the other side of the river, on Piazza Terracina, as well as popular tea shops, there is AS Watersports which stocks a wide range of canoes, kayaks and watersports equipment. Always popular, when the sun is shining at Exeter's Quayside, you will probably find a rather good ice-cream here too!
